It is a hard sponge, very dense, it does not increase its volume in contact with water and it seems to absorb a lot of creamy product, which makes it difficult to clean. I did not notice any difference in application between the two ends. I didn't see it written anywhere in the description that it was so dense (for full cover), otherwise I wouldn't have bought it.
